Ferbey bests Martin in clash of the Titans Source: WCT release
The 2006 Masters of Curling came to a close with Randy Ferbey’s foursome winning their first major title on the Grand Slam circuit. And what a grand way to claim top spot for the Ferbey four, but by knocking off long time rivals, Team Kevin Martin in the process.
Team Ferbey, which features fourth David Nedohin, skip Ferbey, second Scott Pfeifer and lead Marcel Rocque capped off a splendid weekend of curling, downing Martin by a 6-3 score in the championship final, in a game that seemed to be psychologically won by Ferbey early on in the match.
Ferbey’s team was sharp in the final, with each team member’s shooting accuracy resting in the mid-high 90 percentile.
With the win at the Masters, Team Ferbey returns to the top spot on the World Curling Players’ Association rankings, which had been occupied by Martin for the majority of the past 2 seasons. -- Click to Read More |
