Hart leads Team Howard to Shorty Jenkins Title

 Team Howard, skipped by Richard Hart and his Coldwater, Ontario team of Brent Laing, Craig Savill and Andy Ormsby defeated Kerry Burtnyk of Winnipeg, Manitoba 7-6 in a thrilling extra-end final at the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Brockville, Ontario.
With Skipper Glenn Howard on the injury list, Hart was forced to pilot Team Howard this weekend, who added Ormsby to the lineup at lead, and Laing and Savill also moved up, playing Third and Second.
Burtnyk, and his team of Don Walchuk, Richard Daneault and Garth Smith opened the game with two in the first end, and then added two more in the third end to jump ahead to a 4-2 lead. Hart blanked the fourth end, and tied the game in the fifth with two more of his own.
After forcing Burtnyk to a single in the sixth end, Hart took control of the game, scoring 2 in the seventh, and holding Burtnyk to a single in the eighth end, taking the game into an extra end with the all-important hammer. -- Click to Read More |
